Registered Nurse (Maternal Child) provides comprehensive nursing care to OB/GYN patients across antepartum, intrapartum, and postpartum periods, including assisting with exams and labor/delivery, monitoring mothers and newborns, administering medications and IV therapies, and documenting care. The role involves developing and implementing age-appropriate care plans, patient/family education, participation in quality improvement and hospital committees, and potential cross-coverage on other nursing units. Requires graduation from an accredited nursing program, current unrestricted Wyoming RN license, CPR certification, and maternal-child experience preferred.

JOB SUMMARY
The Registered Nurse (RN) delivers professional nursing care to OB/GYN patients across the antepartum, intrapartum, and postpartum continuum. Responsibilities include assisting physicians with exams and labor and delivery, monitoring and operating medical equipment, documenting key patient data (including time of birth), and ensuring timely communication with providers. The RN also administers medications and IV therapies as appropriate and provides immediate, comprehensive care to mothers and newborns.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
- Performs patient assessment and documents in patient record.
- Develops an age-appropriate plan of care, which addresses physical, psychosocial and spiritual needs, in collaboration with other members of the health care team.
- Implements the plan of care, delegates appropriately and ensures documentation of interventions.
- Evaluates progress towards desired outcomes, revises plan of care and intervenes as necessary.
- Educates patient and families regarding current health status, plan of care, and anticipated outcomes.
- Provides service excellence to all customers.
- Maintains professional standards related to clinical practice, staffing and continuing education.
- Practices fiscal responsibility and accountability.
- Actively participates in hospital committees, CQI teams, and Quality Improvement Program.
- Maintains a clean and safe environment.
- May be required to work on other nursing units according to distribution of staff and patients.
- Complies with the hospital’s Corporate Compliance Program including, but not limited to, the Code of Conduct, laws and regulations, and hospital policies and procedures.
- Must be free from governmental sanctions involving health care and/or financial practices.
- Trains in at least one role in the C-Section sterile process.

JOB QUALIFICATIONS
- Education
- Graduate of an accredited school of Nursing.
- Licensure
- Current unrestricted Wyoming Registered Nurse (RN) license.
- Certifications required
- See Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation Certification Policy and Certifications/Education Requirements Policy.
- Experience
- Experience in maternal child preferred.
- Independent within six months of introduction to role chosen
