American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a Stepdown Cardiac position requiring recent SD/PCU experience and competency in telemetry monitoring.
Responsibilities- Work in an advanced care stepdown cardiac unit within a hospital setting
- Care for patients with heart failure, chest pain, NSTEMI, post-procedural status, COPD exacerbation, and overdose/withdrawal
- Typical nurse-to-patient ratio is 1:5-6
- Patients require monitoring and management of IV drips including heparin, nitroglycerin, amiodarone, Cardizem, and insulin
- Night shift schedule: four 12-hour shifts per week (19:00-7:30)
- Floating required to other campuses and units within a 15-mile radius as needed
- Uses Epic EMR; experience required
- Every other weekend and holiday shifts required
- Be prepared to provide direct nursing care to a complex cardiac patient population
- Team structure supports advanced cardiac care with other RNs and allied health professionals
- Navy blue scrubs must be worn while on duty
- Time off (RTO) must be requested with initial application; no additional RTO will be approved after offer
- Local candidates living within a 50-mile radius are not eligible for this position
- Shifts may be cancelled due to low census up to 2 times per contract
- Active OH or compact RN license required
- Minimum 1.5 years recent stepdown or progressive care unit (SD/PCU) experience required; ICU experience does not qualify
- Current BLS and NIHSS certifications required, ACLS preferred
- Must be able to read and interpret EKG strips and pass an online tele competency assessment prior to starting
- Skilled in IV starts and management of advanced cardiac drips
- Epic charting experience required
- Ability to be fitted for N95 mask or use PAPR as needed
- Travel RN experience preferred
