Our job summary

The Material Handler supports meat processing operations by receiving, storing, and moving raw materials and finished products while maintaining safety and sanitation standards. Responsibilities include forklift operation, stock management using FIFO principles, shipment loading, and quality issue documentation. This role requires physical stamina, forklift experience, and the ability to work in refrigerated environments, with flexible shifts including weekends and overtime.

Position Title: Material Handler

Wage: $18.00 - $20.00/hour

Shift: 1st or 2nd

Hours: 7:00am - 3:45pm or 3:45pm - 1:30am

Material Handler Responsibilities:
- Contribute to production operations by complying with policies and procedures for meat processing
- Contribute to a safe and sanitary working environment by complying with establishment procedures and rules
- Inspect forklift equipment prior to use
- Receive shipments of fresh meat, raw materials, supplies and place them in proper storage locations
- Load shipments of finished product onto trucks
- Manage stock of fresh meat in cooler of assure "First In, First Out" usage
- Move pallet loads of finished product from production line to store them in freezer
- Manage the stock of finished product stored in the freezer to assure "First In, First Out" usage
- Assist with stamping and staging of export product shipments
- Maintain cleanliness of shipping dock area (inside and outside), dry storage area, spice storage room, finished product storage freezer and raw product cooler
- Identify and document quality problems for corrective action and prevention of non-conforming product

Requirements for Material Handler:
- At least six months of forklift experience
- Able to perform repetitive standing, walking, bending, crouching, twisting and reaching
- Able to lift up to 50lbs
- Able to withstand working in a cooler environment consisting of refrigerated temperatures maintained at 35-40 degrees Fahrenheit
- High School Diploma or GED preferred
- Dependable and detail-oriented
- Able to follow directions and work under minimal supervision
- Good communication skills
- Able to work weekends and overtime hours as needed
