Position Summary
The Electrical Assistant Service Manager supports the day-to-day operations of the electrical service department by coordinating technicians, managing work orders, and helping ensure jobs are completed safely, on time, and to quality standards. This role serves as a key link between customers, service technicians, and internal teams (dispatch, sales, and accounting), helping the Service Manager drive excellent customer service, efficient scheduling, and profitable project execution.
Key Responsibilities
Service Coordination & Scheduling
Assist with scheduling and dispatching electrical service technicians to customer sites.
Monitor daily work orders, job status, and technician workloads to keep schedules on track.
Help prioritize emergency calls, warranty work, and high-priority customers.
Customer & Job Management
Serve as a point of contact for customers regarding service requests, status updates, and basic questions.
Assist with gathering scope details, site information, and customer expectations for upcoming jobs.
Support the Service Manager with follow-up on open quotes, proposals, and outstanding approvals.
Operational Support
Help review work orders for accuracy and completeness before closing.
Coordinate with purchasing/warehouse on material needs, parts orders, and returns for service jobs.
Assist with tracking job costs, time, and materials to ensure accurate billing and profitability.
Quality, Safety & Compliance
Reinforce safety expectations with technicians and ensure adherence to company policies and procedures.
Assist with documentation related to safety, training, licensing, and certifications as needed.
Support continuous improvement efforts in processes, customer experience, and service delivery.
Administrative & Team Support
Help maintain service logs, service agreements, and customer records in the system.
Assist with onboarding new technicians (introductions to processes, systems, and expectations).
Provide backup coverage for the Service Manager during absences and support other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
High school diploma or GED required; associate degree or technical/trade school background preferred.
2–4 years of experience in electrical service, construction, facilities, or a related field; prior dispatch, coordination, or foreman/lead experience is a plus.
Basic understanding of electrical service work, common terminology, and typical service workflows.
Strong organizational and time-management skills with the ability to juggle multiple jobs and priorities.
Excellent communication and customer service skills, both verbal and written.
Comfort using computers and service management software (work order systems, email, Excel/Word, etc.).
Strong attention to detail and accuracy in documentation, scheduling, and follow-up.
Demonstrated commitment to safety and adherence to company policies and procedures.
Ability to work collaboratively with technicians, leadership, and cross-functional teams in a fast-paced environment.
