One of our Partners in North Carolina is seeking a Board-Certified Hematology/Oncology Physician to provide ongoing locum coverage for its established cancer care program. The incoming provider will join a collaborative, well-supported outpatient oncology team while the facility continues permanent recruitment efforts.
This is a Monday-Thursday, 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM outpatient-only assignment with no call, nights, or weekends, offering excellent work-life balance. Assignment HighlightsCoverage Dates: January 5, 2026 - Ongoing during recruitment
Schedule: Monday - Thursday, 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM (8-hour day, 1-hour lunch)
Setting: 99% outpatient (rare inpatient consults, 1-2 per year)
Patient Volume: 15 patients per day
Team: 1-2 experienced APPs
No Call, No Weekends, No ICU or ER Coverage
EMR: Epic Oncology
Orientation: 1 day prior to first shift (required)
Joint Commission-certified agency partnership through HPA Healthcare
Provide comprehensive hematology and oncology care in an outpatient clinic setting
Evaluate, diagnose, and manage patients with a full range of hematologic and oncologic conditions
Collaborate with APPs, nursing, and infusion center teams to coordinate individualized care plans
Review laboratory and imaging results and adjust treatment regimens as needed
Supervise APPs in ongoing patient management
Conduct follow-up and survivorship consultations
Communicate effectively with referring providers and hospital staff to ensure continuity of care
Maintain accurate documentation within the Epic Oncology EMR system
Participate in departmental or tumor board meetings as appropriate
Board Certification: Hematology and Oncology (ABIM)
Experience: Minimum 3-5 years post-training required
Certifications: BLS (AHA) required
Preferred: Epic experience and prior community oncology background
Soft Skills: Patient-focused, collaborative, adaptable, and efficient in community hospital environments
