Patient Population & Volume
We are seeking aFamily Medicine Physician for a locum tenens assignment in the rural community of Maui. This is a unique opportunity for a provider who is comfortable practicing independently in a remote setting while serving a close-knit community.
Patient Population & Volume
- All ages (pediatrics through geriatrics)
- Average patients per day (may range up to 22)
- Mostly scheduled patients; walk-ins accepted
- Family Medicine and Urgent Care visits
- Includes school-based health services at Hana School (wellness visits and acute illness/injury)
- Clinic 8:00 AM 5:00 PM + Call
- Provider carries the call phone during assigned call shifts
- Must independently triage and manage after-hours calls from patients, medics, or hospital staff
- No on-site support staff while on call
- Must be able to stabilize and treat patients independently
- If urgent, provider must be able to meet the patient at the clinic within 15 minutes
- Local medics are available for transport if needed
- Comfortable functioning as a solo provider
- Perform minor procedures, suturing, splinting
- Interpret and perform EKGs, X-rays, and CLIA-waived point-of-care testing
- Strong clinical judgment and decision-making skills required
- MD or DO
- Board Certified in Family Medicine
- Active Hawaii medical license
- DEA
- BLS, ACLS, PALS required
- ATLS preferred but not required
