A Level II Trauma facility in Tacoma, WA is seeking a Board-Certified Orthopedic Trauma Surgeon for locum coverage two weeks per month to treat a wide range of orthopedic trauma cases. The role involves 24/7 trauma ER coverage, outpatient clinic sessions, and collaboration with physician and medical assistants. Candidates must be fellowship-trained, have at least 5 years of trauma experience, and possess BLS and DEA certification.
Level II Trauma facility in Tacoma, WA, is seeking a Board-Certified Orthopedic Trauma Surgeon to provide locum coverage two weeks per month. The position offers a rewarding opportunity to serve a diverse patient population with a full spectrum of orthopedic trauma cases (excluding complex pelvic injuries), with strong hospital and PA/MA support.
Position Overview:
Start Date: December 25, 2025
Coverage Dates:
Initial coverage: 12/25 (AM) 1/1 (AM)
Ongoing: 2 weeks per month (dates vary based on internal coverage)
Setting: Hospital (inpatient trauma) & outpatient clinic
Schedule:
24/7 trauma ER coverage during assigned weeks
Outpatient clinic: 3 half-days per week (days TBD, Mon Fri)
Support:
Dedicated Physician Assistant (PA) for ER trauma
Medical Assistant (MA) in the clinic
Patient Volume: Varies, typically 0 7 admissions/day
EMR: EPIC
FTE: 1.0 during coverage weeks
Call Structure:
Daily 24-hour call with 4 gratis hours included
Nightly and holiday call options
Call-back pay after gratis hours
Requirements:
Board Certified in Orthopedic Surgery
Fellowship-Trained in Orthopedic Trauma
Minimum 5 years of Level II Trauma experience
BLS and DEA Required (can be obtained after offer)
