This opportunity combines direct patient care with administrative oversight in a mission-driven healthcare environment serving the Alaska Department of Corrections. You ll provide primary and higher-acuity care to a population with complex medical needs while supervising regional clinicians and participating in organizational policy development.
Provide primary health care and infirmary-level care to inmates, including higher-acuity chronic care patients.
Travel in-state for day visits to regional correctional facilities.
Evaluate, diagnose, and treat illnesses or injuries, authorizing outside medical services as needed.
Provide clinical supervision of regional nurse practitioners and physician assistants.
Share phone backup call with other state physicians (1:3 weeks, typically 2 calls/day).
Serve as a liaison with correctional administrators and staff.
Participate as part of the leadership team in developing policies and serving as a medical-legal subject matter expert.
Unrestricted Alaska medical license
Board Certified or Board Eligible in Family Medicine or Internal Medicine
Active BLS and DEA registration
Cultural sensitivity and willingness to work with Alaska Native communities and underserved populations
Monday Friday, 37.5 hours per week
Shared phone backup call (1:3 weeks), $1000/wk extra pay
Up to $294,000 base salary
