Radiology Technologists perform radiographic procedures using ionizing radiation to assist in medical diagnosis, operating independently within established professional and institutional guidelines. They are responsible for executing technical tasks efficiently while ensuring patient safety and maintaining compliance with regulatory standards. Collaboration with healthcare team members and maintaining professional certifications are essential aspects of their role.
POSITION SUMMARY/RESPONSIBILITIES
Performs radiographic procedures at a technical level not requiring constant supervision of technical detail. Performs a variety of technical procedures that will require independent judgment with ingenuity and initiative to apply prescribed ionizing radiation for radiographic diagnosis. Performs radiologic procedures within the professional parameters established in registry requirements and policy and procedures specifications of University Health. Assumes responsibility for assigned duties promptly and efficiently. Complies with instructions from supervisor to whom responsible. Contributes to the overall success of the Radiology team. Maintains a good working relationship with co-workers and other University Health employees, patients and guests.
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE
Registered by the American Registry of Radiologic Technology, or eligibility to take the registry with one year grace period for new graduates from an accredited School of Radiologic Technology. Texas Department of Health (MRT) Certification or a temporary Certification (TMRT) is required. Must also have current Certified BLS for Healthcare Providers (CPR and AED) from the American Heart Association.
