The position involves surgical consultations, minimal inpatient rounding, and collaboration with a team of general surgeons, focusing on adult and pediatric surgeries and laparoscopic procedures. It is a call-only role with competitive compensation, requiring a Massachusetts medical license and BLS certification.

This hospital is a well-established medical center serving the Worcester community with comprehensive healthcare services. The facility operates as a primary stroke center and provides robust support systems including hospitalist and ICU attending coverage, as well as general surgery PAs who are in-house the majority of the time.
Opportunity:
Physician - Surgery - General
Job Details:
• 24-hour call shifts (7am-7am) for unassigned/ED patients • Call-only position with beeper call (not in-house) • Typically receives 2-4 calls while on call with 0-2 callbacks in a 24-hour shift • Average of 4 patient encounters per shift • Board certification required (unless within 5 years of completing training) • May need to consult on inpatients as needed • Minimal rounding required (only if patients are admitted, typically 0-3 patients) • Rounding typically takes less than 4 hours when needed • Surgical focus only, no endoscopy responsibilities • Works alongside 6 general surgeons who cover their own patients • BLS certification required • Massachusetts medical license required (preference for active license holders) • Preferred skills include general adult/pediatric surgery, laparoscopic procedures, breast surgery, and various other surgical competencies • Local candidates would be ideal • Credentialing timeframe approximately 30-90 days
Compensation:
Competitive hourly rates with weekly pay and malpractice included.
