American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN with strong oncology and med/surg skills for a Medical Surgical Oncology unit specializing in hematology and mixed acuity care.
Responsibilities- Work in a Medical Surgical Oncology unit with mixed acuity, including progressive care unit and med/surg cases
- Patient population includes hematologic malignancies and post-transplant oncology patients
- Specialized procedures include autologous, syngeneic, and allogeneic stem cell transplants as well as CAR-T therapy
- Patient diagnoses include various leukemias, lymphomas, myeloma, amyloidosis, and related disorders
- Unit uses telemetry monitoring and requires interpretation of dysrhythmias
- Night shift (3x12 hours, 19:00-07:00) with some rotating day/evening shift options available
- Feeding tube care, blood product administration, and central/PICC line management required
- Must complete Ohio fingerprinting process promptly upon contract signing
- First-time travelers are accepted
- Locals are accepted at the same rate
- Return to assignment allowed only if absent from the facility for at least six months
- Current employees of the health system are not eligible for traveler positions
- All requested time off must be submitted up front and built into the contract
- Active OH or compact RN license in hand at time of consideration
- Graduation from an ACEN or CCNE accredited nursing program required
- Minimum 1 year of recent medical-surgical and oncology nursing experience required
- Hematology/oncology experience strongly preferred
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required
- Telemetry skills and interpretation of dysrhythmias required
- Experience with blood product administration, rapid response teams, and lines care needed
- Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) and ONS chemotherapy certification preferred
- Two professional references required, with at least one from a manager/director or formal leader
