The Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA) provides patient treatments according to established treatment plans, documenting procedures and measuring progress. This role primarily works with adult patients in acute care settings and requires an Associate Degree, state licensure, and basic life support certification. Previous experience in inpatient or outpatient settings is preferred but not required for entry.
Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant
The COTA performs patient treatments as indicated by the treatment plan. Documents treatments given, including frequent and objective measurements. Works with adult patients with clinical competency. Completes established competencies for the position within designated introductory period. Other related duties as assigned.
MINIMUM EDUCATION: Associates Degree in Occupational Therapist Assistant. Active U.S. military service members or veterans with any military service, training or education verified and credited by an accredited COTA program is acceptable.
MINIMUM EXPERIENCE: No previous work experience needed.
PREFERRED EXPERIENCE: Previous COTA experience in inpatient/outpatient setting
REQUIRED CERTIFICATIONS/LICENSURE: Possession of current Texas State license
REQUIRED COURSES/ COMPLETIONS (e.g., CPR): BLS-Obtained through approved American Heart Association Training Center or the Military Training Network.
