Opportunity:
RN - PCU Stepdown
Job Details:
• Work 12-hour night shifts from 6:30 PM to 7:00 AM
• Every other weekend requirement
• Holiday coverage as needed to meet unit needs
• Nurse to patient ratio of 1:4-5 on a 33-bed stepdown unit
• Care for patients ranging from young adults through geriatrics with complex medical conditions
• Common diagnoses include sepsis, STEMI, CHF, chest pain, stroke, renal failure, COPD, DKA, and multisystem failure
• Required to titrate drips including Heparin, Amiodarone, Cardizem, Nitroglycerin, IV antibiotics, and Insulin
• Must read and interpret telemetry strips independently
• May float to MedSurg, Inpatient Rehab, or Skilled Care units
• Required certifications: BLS, ACLS, NIHSS
• Dress code requirement: Navy blue scrubs for RNs
• Artificial nails prohibited - refusal to remove leads to contract termination
• Must pass open book exam with 90% score during orientation or face termination
• Orientation includes first week classroom followed by 2 twelve-hour shifts on the floor
• Use EPIC charting system
• Work with BiPAP and Airvo respiratory equipment
• Busy patient flow with admissions and discharges within same 6-hour timeframes
• Must demonstrate strong teamwork, positive attitude, and commitment to bedside report and hourly rounding
• Cannot be employed full-time, part-time, or PRN with any CommonSpirit, CHI, or Dignity facility
• Must reside outside 50-mile radius with driver's license verification required

This healthcare facility operates a 33-bed progressive care stepdown unit that provides intermediate level care for patients with complex medical conditions. The facility utilizes EPIC electronic medical records and maintains modern respiratory equipment including BiPAP and Airvo systems. The stepdown unit specializes in caring for patients with cardiovascular, respiratory, and other complex medical conditions requiring close monitoring and titratable medication management.
