The Union Heavy Diesel Mechanic/Journeyman is responsible for performing preventative maintenance and repairs on a fleet of garbage trucks at a Waste Connections site. The role requires proficiency in diagnosing vehicle issues using electronic systems, conducting safety inspections, and maintaining compliance with safety and OSHA standards. Candidates must have a valid driver’s license, experience or training in heavy truck maintenance, and the ability to obtain a Class B CDL within 90 days.

Sanipac, a Waste Connections site in Eugene, OR has an immediate position open for a Diesel Mechanic/Journeyman to perform preventative maintenance on our fleet of 125 garbage trucks.

Full-Time: Schedule: Monday-Friday, 5:00am -1:30PM with occasional OT.

Competitive Compensation:
Starting Pay: $30.85-$33.67 per hour DOE.

Responsibilities include:
- Performs repairs and assigned preventive maintenance services.
- Utilizes vehicle computer electronics systems to interpret failure modes to initiate or assign repairs.
- Conducts safety checks on vehicles and equipment.
- Completes required paperwork utilizing fleet maintenance software program associated with repairing vehicles, documenting parts usage, and accounting for repair times.
- Reviews, completes or assigns repairs identified on Driver Vehicle Inspection Reports .
- Performs maintenance related work as required.
- Maintains a clean, safe work area in compliance with corporate and OSHA standards.
- Performs all work in accordance with established safety procedures.
- Ability to effectively communicate needed repairs or tasks.
REQUIREMENTS:
- Valid Driver's License with a clean driving record(Required)
- 2+ year experience in heavy truck equipment maintenance and repair or completion of a diesel tech program
- Class B CDL ORthe ability to obtain one within 90 days of employment.
- Provide personal tools.
- Proficiency in vehicle and equipment diagnosis and repair.
- Ability to read and comprehend service and technical information in English.
