The Hematology/Oncology Physician will provide outpatient and inpatient care, managing a patient load of 15-20 daily with a focus on cancer and hematologic disorders, while also serving in a director role. The position includes shared call responsibilities, administrative time, and support from a multidisciplinary team in a well-equipped facility. POSITION OVERVIEW:
- Outpatient and inpatient role
- Take on Director role
- Standard office hours (Mon-Fri / 8am-5pm)
- Protected administrative time (8 hours per week)
- Call Schedule: Shared call schedule, approximately 1:4 rotation for patient care needs through telephone calls also supported by after-hours nurse triage.
- Support Staff: The physician will have a team consisting of their own clinic support staff, an APP, and a robust specialized oncology nursing team.

PATIENT VOLUME & CENSUS:
- Average Patient Volume: 15-20 patients per day (1hr NP, 30-45min F/U)
- Patient Census: Adult patients with a wide range of cancers and hematologic disorders, from early-stage to advanced.
- Demographics: A mix of rural and suburban patients, many with complex care needs.
VISIT TYPES AND PROCEDURES:
- 40% Hematology and 60% Oncology
- Visit types: Initial cancer diagnosis, treatment planning, chemotherapy follow-ups, and management of hematologic conditions like anemia and clotting disorders.
- Procedures: Bone marrow biopsies, port insertions, etc.
FACILITIES & SUPPORT:
- Clinic/Facility: 10-chair infusion center, onsite lab and pharmacy, two additional infusion centers on campus (1 general/1 rheumatology)
- Imaging/Diagnostics: PET scanning, 64-slice CT, 3-D mammography, breast MRI, high definition endoscopy/bronchoscopy
- Tumor Boards: Bi-weekly for breast, PCC, GI, and ENT
- Surgical Referrals: Includes breast, colorectal, and vascular; Bone marrow transplants referred to Charleston (MUSC or Roper St Francis)
- ACGME Accredited: Medical students, CMC Family Medicine Residency, transitional year, Sports Medicine Fellowship program
- Research & Trials: Currently no active clinical trials; aligned with Duke for access to approximately 450 protocols
- Currently undergoing submission to become accredited by The American College of Surgeons Commission on Cancer.
