Main Responsibilities

1. Patient Care
   • The RN assesses (examines and understands) the patient's condition.
   • Plans what care or treatment is needed.
   • Implements (carries out) the treatment or care plan.
   • Evaluates (reviews) if the care is working or if changes are needed.
   • All of this is done according to the patient's age and specific needs.
2. Using Knowledge and Skills
   • The RN makes decisions based on medical science and clinical experience to ensure the best care for patients.
3. Team Support and Leadership
   • The RN helps in planning and guiding the work of other staff members who are not RNs.
   • This can include workers like Licensed Practical Nurses (LPNs), Patient Care Technicians (PCTs), and Unit Secretaries.
   • The RN also helps teach and train these team members when needed.
