Job Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN with strong neuro Med/Surg skills, NIHSS certification, and Epic proficiency for weekend night shifts.

Responsibilities

• Position is in a 20-bed Neuro Med/Surg unit within an acute care hospital
• Primary patient population includes neuroscience cases: DBS, stroke, seizures, post-op spine surgeries, and other neurological disorders
• Patient ratios are 1:5 to 1:6 on the floor
• Weekend night shifts include Friday, Saturday, and Sunday or Saturday, Sunday, and Monday from 7:00 p.m. to 7:30 a.m.
• Floating may be required to 7E, 7W, 7NE, or 10E units and elsewhere in the hospital, as needed
• Epic EMR is utilized and recent experience with Epic is required
• Telemetry monitoring is present, but RNs are not required to read strips
• Unit is supported with charge RN coverage 24/7 and 3 nurse aides per shift
• Orientation consists of 1 shift on the unit
• Travelers are required to participate in the holiday rotation
• Dress code requires any combination of white and royal blue scrubs
• Travelers may only work within WVU facilities for up to one year before a mandatory two-year break is required
• First-time travelers are welcome to apply

Requirements

• Active WV or compact RN license
• At least 2 years of recent neuro Med/Surg RN experience
• Current BLS (AHA) and NIHSS certifications in hand at time of consideration
• Strong proficiency with Epic EMR and G-tube care
• Ability to work night and weekend shifts per unit requirement
• No previous employment at any WVU Medicine location within the past 2 years
• Must reside at least 50 miles from the facility (local travelers not accepted)
