Job Description
American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Cardiovascular ICU position, requiring a NC or compact RN license and advanced cardiac care skills.
Responsibilities
- Work in the Cardiovascular ICU of a Level III trauma and teaching hospital
- Unit has 14 private rooms, including two negative pressure rooms
- Patient population includes STEMI, cardiogenic shock, cardiac arrest, and post-cardiac/thoracic surgery
- RN to patient ratio is 1:2
- Specialized procedures include management of vasoactive medications, surgical drains, chest tubes, ventilators, CRRT, and invasive devices such as IABP and Impella
- Uses Epic EMR, Alaris IV pumps, Omnicell for medication dispensing, and Phillips patient monitors
- 12-hour night shifts (1845-0715) with every other weekend required
- Floating may occur within the regional facilities and within scope of practice
- No call or on-call requirements
- Supported by a charge nurse, IV/VAT team, 24/7 respiratory therapists, and 24/7 unit-based intensivist
- Departmental training includes NEO and 2 days of unit orientation
- Travelers are expected to work 75% of holidays and can have up to 6 days of requested time off (excluding holidays), with any additional days added to the end of the contract
- Scrub color is navy
- Free parking is provided
- First time travelers may be considered, but experience is preferred
Requirements
- Active NC or compact RN license required
- Minimum of 2 years of critical care nursing experience
- Current certifications: BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS
- Experience with management of vasoactive medications, invasive lines and devices, and advanced cardiac care equipment strongly preferred
- Experience with Epic EMR required or strongly preferred
