American Traveler seeks a Speech Language Pathologist with acute care and swallowing study experience for a 13-week hospital assignment requiring a valid KY or compact license.
Responsibilities- Work in a hospital setting on the Speech Therapy unit
- Monday through Friday schedule, 8:00 AM to 5:30 PM
- Assignment is 13 weeks in duration
- Requires performing bedside and modified barium swallow studies
- On-call required only if absolutely necessary
- Patient population includes individuals with tracheostomies
- FEES and VitalStim certification preferred
- Traveler is expected to work a rotating weekly schedule of 36 hours one week and 48 hours the next
- Must reside at least 100 miles from the facility, no locals accepted
- Provide evaluation and treatment for hospital inpatients requiring speech-language services
- Perform and interpret bedside and modified barium swallow studies
- Care for patients with tracheostomies as part of caseload
- On-call coverage required only in urgent situations
- Holiday coverage and weekend work may be required if needed
- Internal travel pairs are not permitted unless there are multiple positions to fill on the unit
- Active Kentucky or compact state Speech Language Pathology license required if applicable
- At least 2 years of experience as a speech therapist in an acute care setting
- Competency with bedside and modified barium swallow studies required
- BLS certification required (AHA only)
- ACLS certification required
- Experience treating patients with tracheostomies required
- Certification in FEES and VitalStim is preferred
