American Traveler is seeking an experienced Emergency Department RN with a valid WA or compact RN license and at least one year of strong ED experience for a Level II Trauma Center.
Responsibilities- Work in a busy Emergency Department within a hospital setting
- Level II Trauma Center with Level IV NICU and 60 beds, including inpatient holding and psych rooms
- Patient population includes pediatrics through geriatrics, with high acuity cases including trauma, GSW, sepsis, STEMI, stroke, DKA, mental health, and respiratory issues
- Average daily census of 140-150 patients
- Patient ratio is typically 1:4, may flex to 1:5 for low acuity
- No floating required
- 12-hour night shifts with every other weekend rotation
- No on-call requirements
- Uses Epic EMR, Alaris IV pumps, and Pyxis medication system
- Central and bedside telemetry monitoring at nursing station
- Major responsibilities include providing care to diverse and high-acuity patients, including trauma and psych cases
- ED is team-oriented and offers support from ER techs, resource nurses, RT, pharmacist, security, house supervisor, and educator, all with 24/7 coverage
- Orientation includes a day of NEO and 3-4 twelve-hour shifts with a preceptor
- Holiday coverage required: 3 out of 5 major holidays
- Up to 5 days of time off can be approved
- Any professional scrub color allowed—modest piercings and non-offensive tattoos permitted
- Free parking is provided in designated areas
- First-time travelers are not eligible for this position
- The environment is fast-paced and traveler-friendly, with many travelers extending contracts
- Active WA or compact RN license required
- Minimum one year of recent, strong Emergency Department nursing experience
- Current certifications required: BLS, ACLS, PALS, TNCC, NIHSS, CPI/MOAB
- Successful completion of Traveler Competency Exam prior to start
- Proficiency in cardiac rhythm interpretation, IV skills, medication administration (including drips and blood), procedural sedation, and using Epic EMR
