This role is for a travel Med/Surg Registered Nurse (RN) working full-time 12-hour day shifts on a 13-week contract in New York. The RN will provide direct patient care, assess patient needs, collaborate with interdisciplinary teams, and educate patients and families, primarily caring for adult and geriatric medical-surgical patients. The position requires an active NYS RN license, BLS, ACLS, NIHSS certifications, and a minimum of one year Med/Surg nursing experience, with additional benefits including health insurance and travel stipends.

ScheduleFull-time position, 3x12 hour shifts (7a-7:30p), every other weekend, holidays, plus 2 on-call shifts every 4 weeks.
Job DescriptionThe Registered Nurse applies knowledge of nursing theory, technical, and communication skills in delivering high-quality compassionate care to patients and families. The RN assesses patient needs, develops a collaborative plan of care, provides direct care, evaluates patient progress, and coordinates care delivery throughout the patient’s episode. The RN on 3 North specializes in caring for adults, adolescents, and geriatric patients with medical conditions, promoting comfort and providing emotional support in a Healing Environment.
Responsibilities- Applies nursing knowledge and skill in the delivery of care.
- Assesses patient and family needs, creating age-appropriate and culturally relevant care plans.
- Collaborates with interdisciplinary teams to evaluate patient progress and modify care plans as needed.
- Educates patients and families on self-care, encouraging understanding and retention of key health information.
- Evaluates nursing practice and engages in self-assessment for professional development.
- Fosters a trusting relationship with patients and families, ensuring they are central to all care.
- Administers medications and implements interventions as per nursing standards.
- NYS RN Licensure required.
- Certifications: BLS, ACLS (AHA or RQI only), NIHSS.
- One (1) year of experience in a Med/Surg environment as a Registered Nurse required.
