Job Description
American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Med/Surg Tele position requiring telemetry skills and weekend flexibility.
Responsibilities
- Work in the Med/Surg Tele unit of a major teaching hospital
- Patient population includes cardiovascular and peripheral vascular surgical cases, arrhythmias, endocarditis, and CHF exacerbations
- Staffing ratios are typically 1:5-6 patients
- Night shifts are 3x12 hours from 19:00 to 07:30
- Travelers may be required to float to Med-Surg, PCU, or ICU units at multiple hospitals
- Use of Cerner EMR is required
- 50% weekend work required during the contract
- May provide preceptorship and have students shadow as part of a teaching hospital environment
- Charge nurse responsibilities may be required based on operational needs with training provided
- Floating within the hospital and to affiliate locations is required
- First-time travelers are welcome to apply
- Candidates must be willing to work 2 out of 3 major holidays during their assignment
- Up to 5 days of requested time off (RTO) can be auto-approved
Requirements
- Active IN or Compact RN license in hand or fingerprint application submitted
- Current BCLS certification (AHA or RQI accepted)
- Graduation from a nursing program accredited by ACEN or CCNE
- Minimum of 18 months to 2 years of recent Med/Surg Tele experience
- Proficiency in telemetry and IV start required
- Cerner charting experience required
- Local candidates for MS, MS Tele, PCU, ICU, and ER positions are not accepted
- Former permanent or PRN employees must have a 12-month break before applying as a traveler
