Position: Full-time Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP)
Location: Norfolk, VA area
Responsibilities:
- Collaborate with our psychiatric physicians to deliver comprehensive psychiatric medical care.
- Conduct Psychiatric Admitting Evaluations and History & Physical Examinations for newly admitted patients.
- Make treatment recommendations and ensure appropriate orders are implemented.
- Perform psychiatric rounding in our Residential Treatment settings, supporting our Psychiatrist with weekly med-checks.
- Maintain communication with families regarding significant psychiatric/medical updates.
- Document patient encounters thoroughly and accurately in medical records.
- Participate in utilization reviews with insurance companies.
- Provide discharge recommendations and prescriptions for psychiatric medications.
- Respond to emergency needs or crisis situations as necessary.
Requirements:
- PhD or Master s Degree in Nursing from an accredited school.
- Current licensure as a Nurse Practitioner/APRN in Virginia or willingness to obtain.
- Board Certified through the ANCC as a Clinical Nurse Specialist in Psychiatric and Mental Health.
- Current National DEA Certificate.
