Carilion Clinic and the Virginia Tech Carilion School of Medicine (VTCSOM) invite a board-eligible or board-certified reconstructive urologist to play a foundational role in building the future of academic urology in Southwest Virginia.

Transitioning from section to independent Department of Urology
Launching a urology residency training program
Expanding subspecialty services across a growing regional referral network

Shape the Academic Mission
As part of a fully integrated academic health system, you will:
Develop and grow a reconstructive urology program
Participate in medical student education at VTCSOM
Help design and launch a future urology residency
Engage in clinical research and scholarly activity
Collaborate across oncology, transplant, trauma, pediatrics, and cardiovascular services
Contribute to multidisciplinary program building in a rapidly expanding tertiary center
Completion of a GURS fellowship is preferred but not required.
Faculty appointments are provided through VTCSOM, with protected academic engagement supported within a physician-led health system.

Founded in 2023, the Section of Urology is intentionally building depth across subspecialties and currently includes:
Fellowship-trained urologists in oncology, endourology, and pediatrics
General urologists
A strong complement of advanced care practitioners
You will be joining during a period of historic institutional expansion, including:
Taubman Cancer Center (opening 2027) – a six-story, 257,000 sq ft comprehensive cancer facility
Newly approved kidney transplant program, launching surgical services in 2026
Crystal Springs Tower – a 12-story, 500,000 sq ft expansion housing the Cardiovascular Institute and expanded Emergency Department
Planned expansion of VTCSOM, including a new 100,000 sq ft medical education building and increased class size

800+ bed academic/tertiary referral center
