Responsibilities include patient assessment, rounding, coordinating with multidisciplinary teams, and managing mechanical circulatory support devices such as Impella and ECMO. This locum tenens role requires an active Florida medical license, board certification in advanced heart failure/transplant, and experience collaborating in high-volume clinical environments.
JOB OVERVIEW
• Job Title: Physician Advanced Heart Failure Cardiologist
• Job Type: Locum Tenens
• Location: Fort Myers, FL
• Service Setting: Inpatient & Outpatient
• Coverage Type: Clinical Only
• Coverage Period: ASAP Ongoing
• Clinical Shift Schedule: Monday Friday; 8:00a 5:00p; 1 week per month
PATIENT INFORMATION
• Patient Demographics: Adults
• Patient Volume/Census: 8 12 inpatient; 2 4 outpatient; total 15 patients/day
• Admissions: Yes
• Rounding: Included
• Case Mix: Advanced Heart Failure patients requiring complex cardiac care
FACILITY INFORMATION
• Specialty Backup Available: Multidisciplinary cardiac and surgical team
• Support Staff Available: Inpatient APPs (intermittent), outpatient NP support, RN, MA, and customer service representatives
• Reason for Coverage: Supplemental locum coverage at least once per month
PRIVILEGES & COMPLIANCE
• Hospital Privileges Required: Yes
• Temporary Privileges Available: Yes
• Credentialing Timeline: 30 days

JOB REQUIREMENTS
• Licenses: Active Florida medical license
• Certifications: BC/BE by the ABIM in Advanced Heart Failure/Transplant
• Experience: Completion of an ACGME-accredited heart failure fellowship; more than 5 years post-fellowship preferred
• Other Qualifications: Proficient in management of mechanical support devices, including Impella and ECMO; excellent interpersonal and communication skills; eager to work in a high-volume, multidisciplinary environment
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
• Provide comprehensive care for patients with advanced heart failure in both inpatient and outpatient settings
• Round on the inpatient AHF service and manage ambulatory heart failure patients
• Collaborate within a multidisciplinary team to coordinate advanced cardiac care
• Refer heart transplant candidates to partnered regional centers
• Support management of mechanical circulatory support devices as part of an integrated program
