Title: Speech-Language Pathologist – Acute Care
Location: Hagerstown, MD
Duration: 13 weeks
Shift: Day shift, 4x10 hours (08:00 – 18:30)
Provide speech-language pathology services in an adult acute care hospital setting using independent judgment and evidence-based practice
Evaluate, assess, and treat patients with speech, language, cognitive, voice, and swallowing disorders
Perform bedside swallow evaluations and manage dysphagia care plans
Conduct and interpret Modified Barium Swallow Studies; FEES experience preferred
Implement compensatory strategies, diet modifications, and swallowing protocols
Treat patients with complex medical conditions including CVA, TBI, degenerative diseases, dysarthria, dysphagia, tracheostomy, and ventilator dependence
Document evaluations, reassessments, plans of care, and discharge summaries in Epic EMR
Maintain productivity standards of one billable patient per hour
Educate patients and families on treatment plans and safety strategies
Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to coordinate patient care
Supervise students when assigned and participate in departmental initiatives
Participate in on-call rotation and provide limited weekend coverage as needed
Required Skills & Qualifications:
Minimum of 2 years of speech-language pathology experience (1 year may be considered based on experience)
Acute care hospital experience required
Active state Speech-Language Pathologist license (pending acceptable)
CCC-SLP certification
Epic EMR experience required
Experience with adult patient populations
Strong clinical skills in dysphagia management and acute care evaluations
Ability to manage a 1:1 patient ratio and prioritize care effectively
Willingness to take call and work occasional weekend shifts
Travel experience required
