Sr Roadway Estimator Requirements & Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering, construction management, or a related field.
- Minimum 5-10 years of experience in construction estimating, specifically in roadway, highway, and civil projects.
- Proficiency in Office programs such as Outlook, Word, Excel, OneNote, Teams, and PowerPoint.
- Familiarity with HCSS Heavy Job, AutoCAD, and Viewpoint software is a plus.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to read and write accurately for documentation.
- Valid driver’s license and a safe driving record.
- Ability to pass a pre-employment drug screen and physical.
Sr Roadway Estimator Preferred Background & Skills
- Past field experience is helpful.
- Experience with electronic bid submissions and understanding local bid requirements.
- Knowledge of DBE/SBE regulations and requirements.
Sr Roadway Estimator Day-to-Day Responsibilities
- Research prospective project opportunities and develop bid strategies.
- Perform scope analysis, including quantity takeoffs and technical review of plans and specifications.
- Solicit and negotiate with material suppliers and subcontractors.
- Prepare and submit electronic and paper bids, ensuring compliance with all requirements.
- Analyze bid results and assist with subcontractor and material supplier selection.
- Set up project budgets and write subcontracts and major purchase orders in Viewpoint.
