Job Description
American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a PACU position requiring travel experience, pain management proficiency, and a TX or compact RN license.
Responsibilities
- Work in the Post-Anesthesia Care Unit (PACU) and pain management setting
- Shift consists of 3x12 hour day shifts from 6:00 to 18:30
- Patient ratio is 1:2
- Assist anesthesia with epidural insertion and post-operative pain management of epidural or intrathecal
- Utilizes PCEA pump for patient-controlled epidural analgesia
- Epic EMR is used and experience is required
- Main responsibilities include post-anesthesia care, assisting with epidural procedures, and post-operative pain management
- Required to complete orientation modules onsite, with RN modules averaging 4-6 hours
- No more than 3 days of requested time off (RTO) will be auto-approved
- No RTO allowed during the first week of orientation or on holidays
- Travelers may not work in pairs or groups
Requirements
- Active TX RN or compact state license required
- Minimum of 2 years of PACU experience required; 5 years preferred
- Prior travel nursing experience required
- Certifications needed: BLS, ACLS, PALS
- Epic EMR experience is required
- Must live at least 50 miles from the facility to be eligible
- Former permanent staff must be gone at least 1 year before returning as a traveler
