Opportunity:

Registered Nurse - PACU

Job Details:

• Provide post-anesthesia care for patients recovering from all surgical procedures except cardiac surgery
• Care for patients of all ages from 8 months old to 100+ years
• Maintain 2:1 patient ratio during day shifts
• Must assist with coverage in Pre-Op Holding as PACU and Pre-Op are connected units
• Float between PACU and Pre-Op as needed (no floating to other departments)
• Call shifts required
• Minimum of 2 weekend shifts per contract required
• Experience required with plastics, urology, dental, and gynecology surgical recoveries
• Must be skilled in monitoring patients with nerve blocks, chest tube insertions, central lines, intubation, and arterial lines
• Required certifications: BLS, ACLS, PALS, and NIH
• 2 years of experience preferred with pediatrics and critical care strongly preferred
• Level II trauma experience preferred
• Cerner charting system experience preferred
• Must complete on-site drug screening with comprehensive panel
• Documents due 3 business days prior to start date
• Expected to work some holidays

This healthcare facility operates a 21-bed PACU unit with a daily census of 30 patients, providing comprehensive post-anesthesia recovery services. The facility performs all surgical procedures except cardiac surgery and maintains Level II trauma capabilities. The PACU is connected to Pre-Op Holding, allowing for integrated patient flow and nursing flexibility. The facility offers interdisciplinary support including respiratory services, interpretation services, radiology, rapid response teams, pharmacy, and transportation services to ensure comprehensive patient care.
