American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Labor & Delivery position requiring a current Oregon license, BLS, and NRP certifications.
Responsibilities- Work in an acute care Labor & Delivery unit with postpartum and newborn nursery responsibilities
- Unit consists of 5 L&D beds, 1 triage bed, 1 OR suite (staffed by main OR), and 3 postpartum beds
- Average of 30-35 deliveries per month with approximately 340 annual births
- Patient ratios follow AWHONN guidelines
- Care includes L&D, postpartum, routine nursery, and intermediate nursery patients
- Titration of Pitocin, insulin, and magnesium sulfate drips required
- 12-hour rotating day/night shifts with either 7am-7pm or 7pm-7am schedules
- Every other weekend and holiday coverage is required
- EMR: MEDITECH 5.66 is used
- Electronic fetal monitoring system: FE Centricity Perinatal
- Scrubs are provided
- Nurses are expected to be independent and serve as backups for each other
- Care for routine and intermediate newborns; high risk is not common
- Minimum of two nurses present on the unit at all times
- Unit employs a CNA II/unit secretary for support
- Charge nurse available on the unit and house supervisor on-site
- OB is on call 24/7, generally present in house when laboring patients are present
- Orientation consists of three shifts specific to the department
- Nurses may float and provide support to other units as needed
- Ability to adapt quickly to fluctuating patient volumes and acuity required
- First-time travelers are considered
- Active Oregon RN license required (or eligibility for OR 90 Day Emergency License)
- Current BLS and NRP certifications required
- Minimum of 2 years recent L&D experience including postpartum and nursery
- Ability to work independently across all aspects of L&D, postpartum, and nursery care
- Strong skills in titrating Pitocin, insulin, and magnesium sulfate drips
- Experience with MEDITECH EMR preferred
- Must provide two professional references: one supervisor within the last 12 months and one peer or supervisor within the last 3 years
- Copy of driver's license required for consideration
