American Traveler is seeking an experienced ICU RN with strong PCU skills, an IN or compact license, and current ACLS, BLS, and NIHSS certifications.
Responsibilities- Work in a hospital ICU with required floating to PCU
- Night shift schedule with 3x12 hour shifts, 19:00-07:00
- Care for critical care patients with conditions such as ARDS, COPD, STEMI, NSTEMI, DKA, AKI, UTI, and acute shock
- Patient ratios may be higher and nurses must be comfortable working with complex cases
- Use Cerner EMR system
- All travelers float within the hospital or occasionally to nearby affiliate hospitals
- No local candidates accepted for ICU positions
- Responsibilities include advanced monitoring, critical patient interventions, and management of acute and chronic medical conditions
- Must be able to assist with invasive procedures such as chest tube insertion and sheath removal
- Required to provide care for ventilated patients and perform arterial blood gas interpretation
- Must work at least 2 out of 3 major holidays
- Free parking is available onsite
- Red tops and black bottoms are the required scrub colors
- Returning travelers who were previous permanent or PRN employees must be away for at least 12 months
- RTO policy allows up to 5 days of time off to be auto-approved
- Not accepting first-time travelers for this unit
- Active IN or compact RN license required; pending license accepted if willing to obtain appropriate state licensure before start
- Current ACLS, BLS, and NIHSS certifications required (AHA and RQI accepted)
- Minimum of 18 months to 2 years ICU or strong PCU experience required
- Must have graduated from an ACEN or CCNE accredited nursing program
- Must be proficient with interpretation and management of dysrhythmias, 12-lead EKG, central and arterial lines, ventilator management, and titration of cardiac and vasoactive drips
- Experience with Cerner charting required
- Must be able to perform advanced ICU procedures including post-cardiac surgery care, cardiac cath care, sheath removal, advanced IV protocols, and care of surgical wounds with drains or wound vac
