Summary
*This role works every Friday/Saturday/Sunday*
*Position will be located in the Psych ED*
Provides safe, age-appropriate patient care, and functions as advisor, resource, and leader for other members of the patient care team.
Meets all key function of the RN by providing and demonstrating clinical expertise in the appropriate timeframe using the nursing process assuring standards of care are met. Serves as an expert and role model to the registered nurse when assessing clinical and diagnostic information. Recognizes the presence of abnormal results. Anticipates, identifies and proactively responds to problems commonly associated with a diagnosis or treatment. Identifies critical changes in patient status. Appropriately manages patient crisis. Evaluates and prioritizes diagnostic tests according to assigned patients' diagnoses and within the nursing scope of practice. Recommends further testing as needed. Utilizes critical thinking and problem solving skills in the coordination of patient care activities. Assesses learning needs of the patient/family/significant other in developing the teaching and discharge plan of care. Documents patient care and significant events/incidents objectively and promptly, in accordance with departments, hospital, and TJC regulatory standards. Protects patients and employees by interpreting infection-control policies and protocols; enforcing medication administration, storage procedures, and controlled substance regulations. Ensures operation of medical and administrative equipment by verifying emergency equipment availability; completing preventive maintenance requirements; following manufacturer's instructions; troubleshooting malfunctions; calling for repairs; maintaining equipment inventories; evaluating new equipment and techniques.
Experience: Required: * 1-3 years
Education: Required: * Associate's Degree in Nursing Licenses
Certification: Required: * Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support * Basic Life Support * Registered Nurse License - Current Maryland license or eligibility to obtain Maryland license
