Department: OB | RN *Certifications: ACLS, BLS, NRP, EFM must have at least intermediate, prefer advanced* - # of L&D Beds: 2 rooms - if there is only 1 mom expected to go home in 24 hours will stay in room, if longer will get tx to acute care room. - # of OR Suites on the unit for C-Sections: C-Sections are done in OR, PACU will recover. OB nurses do not circulate, they will just go to take care of baby. - # of Postpartum beds: Acute care beds are used for Post Partum beds. If there is only 1 mom and they are expected to go home in 24 hours they will keep her in an L&D room, for stays longer than 24 hours they would go to an acute care room. - # of Births per day? Month? Year?: 50-60 per year. - Do you follow AWHONN guidelines for ratios: Generally 1:1 may get 1:2. only have 1 OB nurse is staffed on shift. - Required Certifications: ACLS, BLS, NRP, EFM must have at least intermediate, prefer advanced. - Common diagnoses: Diabetes, GDM, AMA, no prenatal care, if have a known issue will be referred out. In general don't take high risk. - Experience: Must be able to work on Acute MedSurg Floor. Must be experienced with neonatal antepartum, L&D, Post partum. Ok with 1 year experience. - Are RNs required to titrate drips: Yes - Common titratable: Insulin, magnesium - Is there a Charge Nurse on each shift: Charge nurse for whole hospital. - Are there nurse aids/surgical techs on this unit: No aide to help with cares for L&D. - OB/Neonatologist in house 24/7: All OBs are Family Practice OBs and are in the clinic (in same building) during the day. After hours they are available within 20 min. - Anesthesia in house 24/7: On call - RT Equipment: Nasal cannula, non rebreather if an issue, if newborn needing tx- may have high flow. No RT in house. - Are there Tele/Monitor Techs on this unit: RNs will need to monitor a patient on mag. - EFM System: Fetal Link - Shifts & Scheduling: 12 hour shifts, 6a-6:30p, 6p-6:30a. We do set schedules typically with shifts blocked together. Scheduler will complete schedule 4 weeks at a time. - Weekend Requirements: Typically every other
