Key Job Details – Cardio Thoracic ICU RN- Location: New Haven, Connecticut 06510
- Healthcare Setting: Cardio Thoracic ICU, Level I Trauma Center
- Contract Length: 13 weeks (Start: 12/12/2025 – End: 3/13/2026)
- Nursing Shift: Night shifts, 4x12-hour (19:00 – 07:00)
- Hours per Week: 36 (Guaranteed)
- Estimated Weekly Salary: $1880 - $2020
- Weekend Requirement: Every other weekend
- Patient Ratios: 1:2 (days/nights)
- Charting System: Epic
- Travel Nurse Requirement: Must live >75 miles from facility (no local candidates)
- Active Registered Nurse (RN) license – Connecticut RN license required (pending license accepted)
- Minimum 3 years of recent Cardiac ICU or Cardio Thoracic ICU experience required
- At least 1 year of Level I Trauma Center experience required
- Proficient in Swan-Ganz monitoring and advanced cardiac care
- Certifications: ACLS, BLS, NIHSS (CCRN preferred)
- Experience with Epic electronic medical records
- Previous charge nurse experience preferred
- Professional reference required
- Flu vaccine required (no exemptions)
- Deliver expert clinical care to adult patients in a high-acuity Cardio Thoracic ICU setting
- Manage complex cardiac cases: CABG, valve repairs/replacements, aneurysm repairs, heart/kidney transplants, VAD implantation, and post-cardiac surgery
- Operate advanced cardiac equipment: ECMO, IABP, Impella, CentriMag, VAD
- Perform and monitor Swan-Ganz catheterization, arterial line management, and epicardial pacing wire care
- Administer and titrate cardiac drips, vasoactive medications, blood products, and emergency drugs
- Assist with bedside procedures: chest tube insertion/removal, bronchoscopy, tracheostomy care, sheath removal
- Interpret arterial blood gases, dysrhythmias, and EKG/ECG results
- Float to other ICU and PCU units as needed
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary healthcare teams: respiratory therapy, pharmacy, radiology, and social services
