Lower School ELA Teacher

We are currently looking for a passionate and dedicated Lower School ELA Teacher to join our team for the 2025/2026 school year. If you believe in fostering a lifelong love of reading and writing and thrive in a collaborative educational environment, we want to hear from you.
What You’ll Do: Shape Young Minds
You will be the architect of an engaging and inclusive learning experience for our lower school students, specializing in English Language Arts (ELA).
Instruction & Curriculum Development:
- Design and deliver dynamic, standards-aligned lesson plans that promote deep understanding of ELA fundamentals (reading, writing, speaking, and listening).
- Create and customize instructional resources and activities that reflect the diverse educational, cultural, and linguistic backgrounds of our student body.
- Integrate school-wide competencies, goals, and objectives into all ELA lessons.
- Collaborate with program coordinators to ensure seamless alignment and achievement of school initiatives.
Student Success & Classroom Environment:
- Cultivate a positive, supportive, and inclusive classroom climate where all students feel safe to take academic risks and learn.
- Establish and communicate clear learning objectives and high-performance expectations.
- Observe, evaluate, and track student progress, intervening with individual or small group tutoring as needed to meet performance goals.
- Effectively manage classroom behavior using approved and positive disciplinary procedures.
Professionalism & Administration:
- Maintain accurate and timely records, including grade books and required reports.
- Engage in continuous professional learning, staying current with best practices and research in ELA instruction and general education.
- Participate in ongoing school-wide training sessions.
What You’ll Bring: Skills & Qualifications
- Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Education (required) or a related field.
- Certification: Valid Connecticut State Teaching License (preferred).
- Experience: A minimum of 2 years of teaching experience (substitute or full-time capacity).
- Compliance: Willingness to successfully complete required background check and fingerprinting.
