Job Description
American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a night shift Progressive Care Unit (PCU) role specializing in neuro and trauma care with ACLS, BLS, and NIHSS certifications required.
Responsibilities
- Work in a 44-bed Trauma Care Stepdown Progressive Care Unit
- Patient population includes neuro and trauma cases
- Night shift from 6:45 PM to 7:15 AM
- Typical RN patient ratio is 4:1 at grid, may stretch to 5:1
- Uses IV pumps, Skylift, PCA pump, chest tubes, trachs, and patient lifts
- Cerner EMR is used on the unit
- Floating required to other stepdown and med-surg units
- Required to work every other weekend
- Common procedures include neuro and spinal checks, C-collar and TLSO brace placement, chest tube management, PCA pump use, IV infusions, lumbar drain, feeding tube placement, and blood transfusions
- Team structure includes charge nurses, staff RNs, CNAs, and a Health Unit Coordinator
- Navy blue scrubs are required
- Ideal candidates are team players and patient-focused
- First-time travelers are considered
Requirements
- Active NC or compact RN license
- Current ACLS, BLS, and NIHSS certifications (AHA or ARC accepted)
- At least 2 years of recent neuro and trauma care experience preferred
- Must have a minimum of 1 year recent experience in progressive care or relevant specialty
- Experience with Cerner EMR preferred
- No gaps in work history of 90 days or more in the past 12 months
- Must provide US Social Security Number and date of birth for consideration
