American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a Stepdown/IMC night shift position in Illinois, requiring active IL RN license, BLS, and NIHSS certification.
Responsibilities- Work in an Intermediate Care (IMC)/Stepdown unit at an acute care hospital
- Night shift schedule: 3x12 or 4x12 hour shifts from 18:45 to 07:15
- Patient population includes telemetry, neuro stepdown, cardiac, post-surgical, and trauma cases
- Required to float within the hospital and to nearby affiliate hospitals as needed
- Uses Cerner EMR; Cerner experience preferred
- Will work every other weekend and 2 out of 3 major holidays
- Responsibilities include comprehensive care for cardiac, neuro, orthopedic, plastic, respiratory, and GI/renal cases
- Requires expertise in cardiac drips titration, ventilator management, wound care, and emergency responses
- Work in a Level I trauma center and Magnet designated hospital
- Any solid color scrubs may be worn
- First-time travelers are not accepted
- Block scheduling may be discussed with the manager
- Locals are accepted without a radius restriction
- Parking permit provided at no cost
- Up to 5 days of non-holiday requested time off may be auto-approved; more requires approval
- Orientation includes completion of non-billable virtual modules on the first day
- Active IL RN license required at time of application
- Minimum 1 year of recent stepdown/telemetry experience required
- Current certifications: Basic Life Support (BLS) and NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS); ACLS preferred
- Experience in telemetry, neuro stepdown, PCU/IMC/DOU, and cardiac monitoring/response required
- Proficiency in interpretation and management of dysrhythmias, use of rapid response teams, and care of post-cardiac and neuro patients required
- Experience with Cerner EMR preferred
- Must be able to provide required documents including SSN and DOB for consideration
- Former permanent or PRN employees of the health system must have a 12-month separation before applying as a traveler
