Shift Type: Rotating 12-hour shifts, Day 7:00 AM - 7:30 PM and Night 7:00 PM - 7:30 AM, rotating schedule that may include weekends; specific days and weekend coverage to be discussed during interview

Hours per Week: 36

Candidate Pay Rate: $55.50 per hour

Roles & Responsibilities

  • Prepare the operating room and ensure sterile fields are maintained for safe, high-quality surgical care
  • Collaborate with surgeons, anesthesiologists and perioperative team members to coordinate patient care
  • Assist during a variety of procedures including transplant, robotics, bariatric and general surgery
  • Monitor patient status before, during and after procedures and intervene as needed
  • Document care thoroughly in Meditech and communicate handoffs clearly
  • Float to different surgical areas as required by the unit floating policy
  • Support unit initiatives for patient safety, infection control and quality improvement

Requirements

Qualifications

  • Active Texas RN license required; temporary licenses will not be accepted
  • BLS and ACLS certifications required
  • Minimum 2 years of OR experience and hospital experience
  • Previous travel nurse experience required for this travel-only role
  • Comfortable with floating and adaptable to different surgical specialties and workflows
  • Able to work rotating day and night 12-hour shifts and participate in on-call or weekend coverage as discussed

Knowledge & Skills

  • Strong perioperative nursing skills and sterile technique
  • Experience with Meditech documentation system
  • Familiarity with robotics, urology, transplant and bariatric procedures a plus
  • Ability to support a wide variety of specialties including ENT, ophthalmology and plastic surgery
  • Excellent communication, teamwork and situational awareness in fast-paced OR settings
