American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Pediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU) assignment, requiring BLS and PALS certifications and proficiency with Epic EMR.
Responsibilities- Position is in the Inpatient Pediatrics department with PICU and general pediatric floor responsibilities in an acute care hospital
- Cares for critically ill children in the PICU as well as general pediatric patients depending on census
- 17-bed unit with nurse-to-patient ratios of 1:1 or 1:2 in PICU and 1:3 or 1:4 on the pediatric floor
- May be required to float to NICU for grower/feeder assignments, and to OB or other units for support or patient safety
- Uses Epic EMR for all charting and documentation
- Schedule is 12-hour night shifts (1830-0700), 36 hours per week, with every other weekend and holiday required
- May provide care on both the PICU and general peds floor depending on patient needs
- Expected to float to other units such as NICU, OB, or to sit 1:1 with patients as needed based on census and staffing
- Navy blue scrubs are required; child-friendly, colorful scrub tops are permitted with navy pants
- Travelers typically receive a few orientation shifts upon starting the assignment
- Candidates with prior employment at this health system must have ended employment at least 6 months before consideration
- Candidates with a permanent address within 80 miles are not accepted for travel positions
- Holiday coverage on a rotating basis is required
- Active RN license in ND or any compact state
- Current BLS and PALS certifications are required
- At least 1 year of pediatric RN experience
- Experience caring for both critically ill children (PICU) and general pediatric patients
- Must be able to manage a range of pediatric procedures including continuous nebs, BiPAP, DKA on insulin drip, and others
- Epic EMR experience preferred
