American Traveler is seeking a Registered Nurse for Radiation Oncology with an active DC RN license and at least 2 years of oncology nursing experience.
Responsibilities- Work in a hospital Radiation Oncology department
- Adult oncology patient population, primary diagnoses include prostate, breast, colorectal, cervical/endometrial, head and neck, and lung cancers
- Day shift, 5x8 hour shifts (8:00 am - 5:00 pm)
- Responsibilities include care and management of ports, central lines, acute oncology emergencies, and provision of side effect management
- Special procedures include new consults for radiation, simulation education, and dental referrals
- Uses Cerner for electronic charting
- Floating not mentioned
- Primary responsibilities include chart preparation, disability form completion, pharmacy calls, telephone triage, and treatment-related patient education
- Works closely with social workers, nutritionists, and other members of the oncology care team
- Pre-start and orientation modules required, with documentation via transcripts
- Return staff must be gone for a minimum of one year to be eligible as a traveler
- Maximum of 7 days RTO allowed per 13 week contract; no RTO permitted during the first two weeks of assignment
- Local candidates within 60 miles are accepted at a lower rate
- Scrub or dress code not specified
- Manager interview may not be required
- Active DC RN license required at time of consideration
- Current BLS certification
- Minimum 2 years of radiation oncology or oncology RN experience required
- Must have completed at least 1 prior travel assignment (candidates with less experience to be screened)
- Skills required: care of ports, central/implanted line care, management of oncology emergencies including ATLS, extravasation, sepsis, tracheostomy care, external radiation therapy, and radiation safety precautions
- Experience with adult IV starts
- Proficient with Cerner EMR
- Two supervisor references required
