American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Progressive Care Unit (PCU) night shift position requiring a NE or compact RN license and competence with arterial lines.
Responsibilities- Work in a 40-bed Progressive Care Unit (Stepdown) in an acute care hospital setting
- Adult patient population with cardiac med/surg, dialysis, cancer, vascular, sepsis, respiratory, stroke, post-stent, post-pacer, and renal failure cases
- Typical nurse-patient ratio is 1:4-5 on both days and nights
- Required to titrate drips including Heparin, Nitro, Dopamine, Cardizem, Amiodarone, and insulin
- RNs must read and interpret their own telemetry strips
- Use of high flow oxygen equipment
- Uses Epic for charting
- Night shifts; 12-hour shifts (1830-0630)
- Weekend requirement is every other weekend
- Minimum of two holiday shifts per contract
- Floating required to MedSurg or ICU for PCU acuity patients
- Pass/fail skills exam during orientation is required with a minimum score of 90%
- Orientation includes one day of department-specific training
- Artificial nails are prohibited for patient care providers
- Team includes charge nurse on each shift and support from nurse aides/patient care techs
- Navy blue scrubs are required
- Focus on responsiveness, communication about medications, and patient experience scores
- Must be flexible, adaptable, and able to communicate effectively with a diverse patient population, including primarily Hispanic and Somalian communities
- Only up to 7 days of requested time off are allowed per 13-week contract and must be approved up front
- Active NE or compact RN license required at time of consideration
- Minimum of 2 years recent RN experience
- Certifications required: BLS, ACLS, NIHSS
- Competence with arterial lines required
- Experience with titrating multiple critical care drips
- Experience with Epic EMR preferred
- Must not have been employed (full-time, part-time, PRN) with any facility affiliated with CommonSpirit, including CHI or Dignity, within the past year
- Must reside at least 50 miles from the facility, verified by driver's license
- Copy of driver’s license required for consideration
- Submission requires two references (one supervisor from last 12 months and one supervisor or peer from last 3 years)
