Job Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Labor & Delivery role in an acute care Family Birthing Center, requiring a current CA RN license and advanced fetal monitoring skills.

Responsibilities

• Work in the Family Birthing Center, including Labor & Delivery, Postpartum, and OB
• High-risk unit with LDRP model and couplet care responsibilities
• 10 L&D beds, 12 postpartum beds, 2 C-section OR suites, and 6 triage/antepartum beds
• Handles 100-150 births per month with varying patient acuity
• Ratios of 1:3-4 couplets, 1:1-2 for L&D, and 1:1-3 antepartum cases per AWHONN guidelines
• Required to circulate C-sections and care for patients from start to finish
• Night shifts (12 hours), every other weekend required, holidays rotated with staff
• First to float among travelers, may float to other Sacramento-area facilities mid-shift
• Cerner EMR is used for charting; experience preferred
• GE Corometric monitors for fetal surveillance
• OB hospitalist in-house 24/7; neonatologist on call 24/7
• Must be comfortable managing all aspects of LDRP from triage to delivery and postpartum
• OB surgical techs are available on the unit
• Charge nurse typically does not take patients but provides support and break relief
• Scrubs are provided by the facility
• Must pass Relias Dysrhythmia and sterile technique testing during orientation
• Candidates may not have had direct employment (full time, part time, or PRN) with any CommonSpirit-associated facility, including CHI or Dignity, within the past year
• Holiday coverage is assigned based on rotation with unit staff

Requirements

• Active CA RN license required at the time of consideration
• Minimum 2 years of recent Labor & Delivery experience
• Current BLS, ACLS, NRP, and AWHONN Advanced Fetal Monitoring certifications required
• Must be competent in couplet care, LDRP, circulating C-sections, and titrating Pitocin drips
• Ability to interpret fetal monitoring and EKG strips (for moms in PACU)
• Must provide two professional supervisory or peer references: one from within the last 12 months, one from within the last 3 years
