The Heart Hospital Baylor Plano seeks an advanced heart failure and transplant cardiologist to join a specialized team managing complex cardiac patients, including those requiring LVAD and mechanical support devices. The role involves patient care, teaching fellows, and leading inpatient and outpatient heart failure services, with opportunities for research and collaboration within a large, integrated health system. The Heart Hospital Baylor Plano is an academic cardiovascular hospital searching for advanced heart failure and transplant cardiologist to join our four advanced heart failure cardiologists and three advanced practice providers team. The Heart Hospital Baylor Plano is part of the Baylor Scott and White system which is the largest not-for-profit health care system in the State of Texas and one of the largest in the United States. The BSWH system includes 47 hospitals, over 6,600 physicians, 43,000 employees, over 900 access points and a state certified health maintenance organization healthcare plan. The Heart Hospital Baylor Plano is the largest cardiovascular center in the state and one of the top 5 in the country by cardiac surgery volume. The Heart Hospital has a robust cardiovascular and cardiothoracic surgery fellowship program with heart failure, structural, interventional and EP sub-fellowships. The Heart Hospital is a nationally ranked specialized cardiac hospital that is ranked high performing in 5 aspects of cardiac surgery and cardiovascular care including heart failure care. It is one of the busiest left ventricular assist device programs in the country and has STS three star ranking in multiple cardiac surgical procedures.
Our program is rapidly growing, and we are looking forward to having a partner join our dynamic team. The position involves teaching general cardiology fellows as well as the heart failure fellow, seeing patients at our heart failure and subspecialty clinics, and an inpatient consulting service including shock management and cardiac critical care. There is ample opportunity for research on both local and national level. This position requires evaluation, assessment, and pre and post-surgical management of LVAD patients. You will be leading the shock team with management of temporary mechanical support device including ECMO, IABP, Protek and Impella. The outpatient clinic includes a dedicated geneticist as well as infiltrative, amyloidosis, genetic and hypertrophic cardiomyopathy sub-specialty clinics. Our heart failure team works in close conjunction with an affiliated transplant center for consideration and evaluation of potential transplant. The heart failure service works closely with our busy structural heart disease program. The hospital and clinics are all integrated on Epic and supported with system wide collaboration on heart failure care.
