American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Stepdown position with charge nurse capabilities and advanced cardiac monitoring experience in Minnesota.
Responsibilities- Work in a Stepdown unit at a critical access hospital designated as a Level IV trauma center
- Patients include cardiac, respiratory, metabolic, post-surgical, and complex medical cases such as CHF, A-Fib with RVR, DKA, ETOH withdrawal, ARDS, pneumonia, sepsis, delirium, and a variety of surgical cases
- Nurse-to-patient ratio is 1:2 for all shifts
- Required to work every third weekend on 12-hour shifts (7a-7p or 7p-7a)
- Floating to Med/Surg and various departments as needed, including affiliated hospitals
- No on-call responsibilities
- Epic (Excellian) is used for electronic charting and experience is required
- Specialized equipment includes NICOM and Nihon Kohden monitors
- Will be required to function as a charge nurse when needed
- Will assist in the management of patients undergoing special procedures such as central and ART line insertion and cardioversion
- Team includes support for various critical and complex cases involving rapid intervention
- Navy blue scrubs are required
- Parking is free in any unrestricted space
- Ideally, requested time off should not exceed 5 days
- Returning employees must have a 3-month break from their last perm or per diem shift
- Active MN RN license or eligibility for a pending license
- Minimum of 2 years experience in MS/Tele, Telemetry, PCU/DOU/IMC/Stepdown
- Charge nurse experience is required
- Current certifications in ACLS, BLS, and PALS are required; NRP is preferred
- Experience in cardiac monitoring including interpretation and management of dysrhythmias and use of Rapid Response Teams
- Experience with IV therapy including arterial and central line management, blood product administration, starting IVs, and PICC line care
- Proficiency with Epic (Excellian) EMR required
- Candidates must live more than 100 miles from the facility
- First-time travelers are not accepted
