This locum tenens position seeks board-certified General Medicine providers in Alabama to perform Compensation & Pension exams and Separation Health Assessments for veterans. The role involves interview-based evaluations, physical assessments, and timely completion of standardized documentation, with no prescribing or treatment responsibilities. It offers flexible scheduling on an as-needed basis, training opportunities, and administrative support to facilitate professional growth.
We are seeking experienced General Medicine Providers for a locum tenens position performing Compensation & Pension (C&P) exams and Separation Health Assessments. This role offers flexibility and the opportunity to support veterans by providing essential health evaluations. The position is available on an as-needed (PRN) basis and ongoing.
Position Details:- Rate Type: Daily
- Emergency/Temp Privileges: No
- Shift Type: Days
- Shift Description: PRN - as needed basis, with options for half-day (4 hours) or full-day (8 hours) coverage.
- Perform C&P exams and Separation Health Assessments.
- Conduct primarily interview-based evaluations with some physical assessments, including range of motion testing and muscle strength testing.
- No prescribing or treatment involved.
- Use a Goniometer for physical assessments.
- Complete and submit standardized forms (DBQs) within 48 hours of exam completion.
- Record reviews required in most cases.
- Follow up administrative work such as addendums, medical opinions, and reading diagnostics will be necessary.
- Certification: Board Certified in General Medicine, Family Medicine, Internal Medicine, Orthopedic Surgery, or related fields.
- State License: Active Alabama medical license.
- Experience: Familiarity with Musculoskeletal, Diabetes, and Cardiovascular conditions.
- Proficient in METs testing, evaluating, and diagnosing respiratory, cardiovascular, and neurological conditions.
- Must own a personal laptop (No MACs).
- DMA certification available (can earn CME credits); certification required once privileged if not already certified.
- Quick credentialing and onboarding process.
- Background in General Medicine or experience with compensation and pension exams preferred.
- Ability to perform evaluations at VES leased facilities or within your own practice.
- Excellent communication and documentation skills.
- Empathy and dedication to serving veterans.
- Flexibility: Option to work half-days or full-days.
- Training: Provided for all Reporting/Disability Benefits Questionnaires (DBQs).
- Support: Access to a comprehensive provider portal for evaluations.
- Administrative Work: Regular follow-up required for administrative tasks.
- Certification Opportunities: Obtain DMA certification and earn CME credits.
- Ability to work weekends if desired or needed.
- No on-call duties.
