The Registered Nurse (RN) in the Telemetry Med-Surg unit provides patient-centered care primarily to cardiac patients using telemetry monitoring, while also managing a variety of general medical conditions. Responsibilities include patient assessment, developing individualized care plans, documentation, compliance with safety and medication protocols, and continuing education. The position requires an RN license, Basic Life Support certification, and prefers a Bachelor’s degree in Nursing with relevant clinical experience.

Telemetry Med-Surg – 2700
2700 is a telemetry medical-surgical unit. This is a 22-bed unit that cares for cardiac patients on telemetry monitoring. Diagnoses on this unit are primarily cardiac in nature, but the unit also cares for patients with a diverse variety of general medical illnesses. Because of this, our nurses develop a strong set of skills and knowledge that they can use to grow their careers throughout the acute care environment.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Provides high-quality, patient-centered clinical care
Performs initial and ongoing assessment of the patient, utilizing appropriate data (i.e., physical, psychological, educational, and risk-screen data appropriate for the chronological/developmental age of the patient).
Communicates and documents the assessment of the patient with the interdisciplinary team. Utilizes all available resources to meet the needs of the patient and family.
Develops and documents plan of care, treatment, and services which is individualized and appropriate for the patient's needs, strengths, limitations, and goals.
Complies with organizational policies, procedures, and protocols, including policies governing safety, medication administration, and documentation.
Revises plan of care based on ongoing evaluations and updates documentation appropriately.
Completes at least one clinical research utilization (CRU) form for submission to the Nursing Research Department utilizing a research article from the last 5 years from research performed in the United States. Compliance,
Completes a minimum of 5 nationally approved contact hours (CNE or CEU) per year.
Completes mandatory in-services and health screens in a timely manner.
Maintains Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Diploma or Associate’s Degree in Nursing
Registered Nurse license in New York State.
Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing preferred.
At least 6 months of experience preferred.
