Job Responsibilities:
Provide physical therapy services to adult and geriatric patients in an inpatient acute care hospital setting.
Evaluate patients and develop individualized treatment plans to restore function and mobility.
Perform lifting, transfers, gait training, and patient transport to and from therapy.
Educate patients and families on home exercise programs, safety, and recovery.
Collaborate closely with interdisciplinary teams including OT, ST, nursing, physicians, and case management.
Manage daily caseload of approximately 10–12 patients while meeting productivity standards of 80%.
Treat patients across multiple units including orthopedics, neurology, oncology, post-operative spine/neck, medical-surgical, and ICU (medical, cardiac, surgical).
Document all patient care, discharge planning, and progress in a timely and accurate manner.
Required Skills & Experience:
Minimum 1 year of acute care physical therapy experience.
Experience in inpatient hospital settings; LTAC or rehabilitation hospital experience preferred.
Competency with assessments including ROM (AROM/AAROM/PROM), pain, skin integrity, strength testing, vital sign monitoring, arousal/attention, and environmental barriers.
Ability to manage cardiopulmonary and neurological conditions including COPD, CHF, MI, CABG, post-stroke rehab, spinal cord injury, and complex orthopedic cases.
Proficiency with adaptive equipment and assistive devices: rolling walker, standard walker, crutches, gait belt, hospital/specialty beds, wheelchairs, supplemental oxygen, sliding boards, and prosthetics.
Strong skills in discharge planning, time management, home exercise program development, and patient/family education.
Comfortable working with high patient volumes in a large hospital environment.
Travel experience not required.
Certifications & Licensure:
Texas Physical Therapy License (will accept pending)
BLS – Preferred
