American Traveler is seeking an experienced Physical Therapist for an acute care hospital setting requiring at least 2 years of recent PT experience and a valid state license.
Responsibilities- Position is in an acute care hospital working primarily in the PT Acute Care Hospital unit
- Schedule is 4x10 hour day shifts, Tuesday through Friday, from 8:30 AM to 7:00 PM
- Participation in weekend and holiday rotation; full weekend required every 6 weeks with flex days before and after
- Patient ratio is 1:1 for therapy sessions
- Floating required between St. Peters and Progress West locations as needed for support
- Uses Epic as the charting system; Epic experience required for certain units
- Treats a diverse patient population including cardiopulmonary, orthopedics, geriatrics, neurology, and oncology cases
- Responsibilities include assessment, creating treatment plans, patient/family education, and supporting pain management and rehabilitation from a variety of conditions
- Therapists may manage patients with orthopedic, neurologic, and general debility issues
- Team includes therapists with advanced training in LSVT BIG, vestibular, and pelvic floor therapies, though these specialties are not required for this position
- Tan pants or scrub bottoms with black tops or scrub tops are required attire
- No call requirements for this assignment
- No more than 7 days of planned time off allowed per 13-week contract; no time off allowed during orientation week
- Permanent employees must wait 1 year before returning as travelers
- Travelers can remain for up to 18 months, requiring a 3-month break after
- Active state PT license required at time of consideration (license required if applicable)
- Minimum of 2 years recent physical therapy experience in an acute care setting
- Current BLS certification required
- Experience and skills required include: cardiopulmonary, geriatrics, neurology, orthopedics, outpatient clinic, AROM/AAROM/PROM, assistive devices, body mechanics, pain assessment, skin integrity, strength testing, breathing techniques, assessment, patient evaluation and discharge planning, setting and achieving treatment goals, gait training, and common PT equipment
- Proficiency in Epic EMR required for certain units
- No first-time travelers accepted
- Must reside at least 75 miles from the facility; local candidates not accepted
