Job Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Neuro ICU position requiring a WI or compact RN license, with strong neuro assessment skills and night shift availability.

Responsibilities

• Work in an 8-bed Neuro ICU within a hospital setting
• Patient population includes stroke, traumatic brain injury, head injury, and post-neurosurgery cases
• Primary procedures involve neuro assessments, bedside ICU procedures, and neuro-specific procedures such as bolt and drain placements
• Familiarity with EVDs, ICP monitoring, and future care of neuro interventional patients is required
• Will float between Neuro Critical Care ICU, MSICU, other critical care, and inpatient units as needed
• Night shift: 12-hour shifts from 7:00 pm to 7:30 am
• Weekend and holiday work required every other rotation
• Uses Epic EMR and Epic experience is required
• Call status possible during low census hours, with minimum 2-hour call back
• Responsibilities include advanced neuro assessments and participation in bedside ICU procedures
• Must be comfortable floating to multiple units and working independently
• Any color of scrubs may be worn
• During flu season, unvaccinated travelers must wear a mask at all times in accordance with policy
• Unit is closed during certain holidays; hours not guaranteed during orientation week
• Team approach expected with flexibility to adapt to changing patient needs

Requirements

• Active WI or compact RN license required
• Current certifications: BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS required
• Minimum of 2 years ICU experience required; travel experience preferred
• Experience in Med/Surg ICU and/or Neuro ICU with strong neuro assessment skills required
• Experience with Epic charting system required
• Must be outside a 50-mile radius of the facility
• Hardworking, resilient, and able to manage independently
