The Lead Physicist provides expert physics services in planning and delivering therapeutic radiation treatments, ensuring compliance with clinical and regulatory standards. They offer technical leadership, perform quality assurance on radiation equipment, and mentor medical physics staff. This role requires advanced education, board certification, and extensive clinical experience in radiation therapy physics.
Responsibilities:
RESPONSIBLE FOR:
Provides physics services related to the planning and delivery of therapeutic radiation treatment in accordance with the Radiation Oncologist's prescription. Provides technical leadership including clinical set-up expertise to radiation oncologists, dosimetrists and therapists. Performs quality assurance checks according to regulatory requirements and industry standards for all department equipment. Serves as a mentor and team lead for staff medical physicists. Reports to the Manager for Radiation Physics.
MINIMUM EDUCATION REQUIRED:
Masters of Science in Medical Physics, or related discipline.
MINIMUM EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:
Five years of clinical experience as a medical physicist in a radiation therapy department.
MINIMUM LICENSURE/CERTIFICATION REQUIRED BY LAW:
Board Certified by the American Board of Radiology in Therapeutic Radiation Physics
Ability to be listed as an authorized medical physicist on the State of Georgia Radioactive Material
Licenses Participation in the American Board of Radiology Maintenance of Certification Program
